  • Mind-Full

    mind cradled to quiescence
    rolling with the static waves
    of a modern soundscape

    silence become
    uncomfortable
    unprofitable
    unheard
    unwelcome
    in the search for anodyne

    thought rattles uncertain
    in silence
    the rhythm skitters

    tick tick
    time

    to find

    in silence
    waiting quietly
    is voice

    is breath

  • Wildflower

    slipped sidewise,
    accidental,
    landing stony

    cells vibrating,
    bruised,
    turning tentative
    to sun

    slender form
    bowed, diverting,
    shunning gentle rain,
    holding closed
    against a chance
    of icy breeze

    yet holding true
    strength

    in deepening
    roots,
    face to the sun
    determinedly
    (she)
    flowers

  • Panacea

    and sin bleeds

    leaching into
    the paper-thin vessels
    of the mind’s
    patterning
    colour sickening

    your sin?
    his sin?
    a sin within?

    immaterial

    life sickens with it
    the loathsome shade
    disease-mottled fruits
    spreading a sticky
    veil

    restorative dormant
    shy elusive compassion
    reaching out

    and inward

    to forgive
    to melt the veil

    room again
    to breathe

  • Unbeing

    I walk in darkness
    beneath a fathomless blue, cold
to the glare of a deceitful sun

    I turn to nearby laughter,
    a dark veil telescoping
    the space between

    I watch in numbness
apart from myself, unable to touch reality
    from my two-dimensional void

    I am a cardboard cut-out

    A shadow puppet dancing
to a tune I can no longer hear

Would that I could snip the wires,
    for just one breath…

  • Step On a Crack

    ribbity rabbity
    one two three
    thoughts jitter in my head
    on a flea ferris wheel

    ribbity rabbity
    four cracks
    – what?
    the thoughts in my head
    just won’t SHUT UP
    is everything right today?
    what if it’s not?
    five six seven cracks
    next pace…

    STOP!

    (ribbity rabbity)
    … going again
    thoughts in my mind
    cycle tail on end
    eight nine ten cracks
    count till they’re done
    you know what happens
    if you miss just one

    the worry skitters in
    if you miss the beat
    a busy little spider
    with prickly little feet

The ritual of the beat sings
    ribbity RUN
    danger coming now, why
    what have I done?
    there must be a reason
    amygdala chimes
    from a falsely alarming
    tricksy mind

    ribbity rabbity
    one two three
    thoughts judder in my gut
    on a flea ferris wheel

  • Hope Framed

In gilded frame a tropical sunset
    reflection of the joyous radiance
    of a freshly shining couple

Not a lie – not exactly

But she is already broken, he
    a victim to belief
    that love can heal all
